As the semester draws to a close and graduation approaches, you are [hopefully] preparing for life's next great adventure. Whether it be graduate education or a career in your chosen field of endeavor - there is always someone willing to share some wisdom and advice. This is not an assignment but I would encourage you to read the following, consider the information, feel good about the future and welcome the opportunities and challenges along the way.

I was inspired, embarrassed, hopeful and proud all at the same time. The speech was a bit long winded, but worth the read. Nice recommended article.
ReplyDeletethats unsettling and reassuring all at once.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this. I am going to keep it and look back on it frequently. I loved the quote "the stars come out every night and yet we watch television". I also loved that he showed that we aren't solving this economic problem at all. You can't solve a money problem by throwing more money at it. Were there ever an opportunity to step back and change the current system in place, this is the time. We have to be smart about it and we can't turn our backs on our country's values and morales. But if we are willing to pull together and be honest with each other, it is do-able.
ReplyDeleteThank you Professor Wallace and good luck to everyone!
I'm a person who is really big ontitles and the title captured my attention immediatley and I appreciated it's motivational intent. I loved how he gave his speeech “direct, naked, taut, honest, passionate, lean, shivering, startling, and graceful.” It was all of those things, but most of all I liked the last statement. The time has come and the baton will be passed, let's go class of 2009!
